Nancy Giacolone, RHU, is the President Olympic Crest Insurance, Inc. and a prominent industry thought leader when it comes to healthcare consulting and the insurance industry.

We asked Nancy to share her path to leadership with us as this weeks feature:

"I started in this industry at a young age and quickly fell in love with it.  It didn’t take long for me to move from being an Administrative Assistant, to a Producer, to a Partner in the agency where I started.  When the “good old boy” team took over, it was  time for me to move on and start my own business.  That was 24 years ago, and I still am passionate about helping employers, their employees and individuals understand, access and obtain the best healthcare coverage at the best price.

It is tough to describe a struggle I've experienced and then overcome, because I have faced many challenges in my career and business life, including being sued, walking away from a larger affiliation because it didn’t align with my values, owning my own “brand” publicly, and now the current COVID-19 impact.

But I think the most personal challenge I have faced was deciding to start running.  I spent the first 50+ years of my life telling myself that I couldn’t run.  Then a funny thing happened, I was tired of being a spectator watching my son & husband run at events and decided I it was time for me to be a participant.

I kept telling myself that if I could do “x”, then I could do this too.  I finally ran my first 5k from start to finish, something I truly believed was impossible.  Now I take this mentality into the challenges I face in business and changing the way we purchase and communicate health care benefits".
