Susan Combs.jpeg

Even though Susan lives in NYC, she’s just a “Missouri girl in a New York world.”  She grew up in King City, MO, a town of less than 1,000 people, with her mom, dad and two older brothers.  She left the northwest corner of Missouri in 2001 to seek her success in NYC.  Susan’s late father was a retired Major General AND county judge, while her mother owned a Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio and travel agency.  (So, entrepreneurship is in her blood.)  Susan began her entrepreneurial journey in 2005 when she formed Combs & Company, LLC at 26 years old and often says she “didn’t know what she didn’t know,” but took a leap of faith after being presented with a contract from a firm that didn’t tell her what her compensation would be other than to “trust us.”  As we all know, trust doesn’t pay the bills and that’s exactly what she told them when she walked out the door and started her own firm, with the support of a mentor and her tenacious spirit.  She built her company on the concept of “Do more, better,” and has worked to instill that attitude in every member of her team and industry professional that she comes into contact with and mentors.  Highlights of her career have been in serving as the youngest National President (2014-2015) in the 80+ year history of Women in Insurance & Financial Services (WIFS) and being the first female to receive the Broker of the Year (BOY) Award by BenefitsPro Magazine.   Susan’s is known for being an open book and calling it like she sees it.  If you are looking for fast paced, truth tellin’ then she’s the mentor for you!
